CONDITIONS AND RULES
Eligibility and conditions
- The programme is intended to attract excellent researchers and to create new research teams in Genopole campus.
- Hence, Senior category is strictly targeted to researchers who have the ability to lead a research team (R3 to R4 levels as referred in Euraxess) and who are not already hosted in Genopole campus ;
- whereas Junior category is strictly targetted to young promising researchers with a PhD, 2 to 7 years after the PhD defense (certified date of defense).
- The Senior applicants hold a permanent position in a public research organisation or a university or is holding an ERC grant. In all cases, his/her own salary shall be secured for the whole duration of the research programme on their own permanent position ; their salary will not be charged on the ATIGE grant. They shall provide due authorisation of mobility and discharge from their current institution. In case of teaching or clinical activity, they must secure at least half-time dedicated to the ATIGE research project;
Commitment
- Senior applicant commits to stay in the hosting team for a total duration of 5 years ;
- Junior applicant commits to the duration of the fellowship 36 months.
- The applicant must not have carried out their main research activity for more than 6 months in the hosting team or in anyone of the research laboratories located in Genopole Campus before the application deadline and in the 3 years before the application deadline;
- Application file must be complete and submitted in due time (see Timelines), all fields completed.
Amount and duration

For Senior applicants : The total amount of the ATIGE grant is 250 000 €, allocated for a duration of 36 months.
At least 50% of this amount must be spent on the personal cost category in order to recruit the future team (salaries for engineers, technicians, PhDs or post-doctoral researchers).
The remaining budget can be used for the conduct the project (consumables, databases, missions). Equipments and IT materials above 500 € HT/unit are not allowed in ATIGE grant, however there is a specific annual call for equipments in Genopole.
- For Junior applicants : the total amount is 200 000 € allocated by Genopole to cover the total cost of 36 months fellowship (Net salary + total charges = supergross salary or employer cost).
The charges rate applied by the hosting institution varies according to their status (public, academic, private, association..) ; the corresponding net salary may vary between 2500 and 2900 €. / month.
It is the responsibility of the hosting institutions to announce clear amounts for the charged and net salary that will be paid to the fellow.
Contract
Once the successful applicant/project is selected, Genopole sends a notification letter to the applicant and to the director of the hosting laboratory; it is the responsibility of the director and the applicant to provide the due administrative authorisations prior to the start of the project (mobility authorisation and freeding from teaching or clinical practice if any).
A grant is then established between Genopole, the hosting institution and the applicant for the whole duration of the project. The administrative and financial conditions are stated in the grant as well as the rights and obligations of the hosting supervisor and of the fellow.
Reporting and follow-up
In terms of follow-up of the contract, the fellow will provide annual periodic scientific reports and financial statements on the use of resources within 30 days from the end of each annual period.
A final report will be requested within 60 days after the end date of the grant; a report template will be communicated accordingly.
Payments will be done upon reception and validation of the annual reports; 10% of the total budget will be paid after reception and validation of the final reports. The hosting administration sends the appeal for funds or invoice in due time at the end of each annual period.
